A Joshua Tree man was arrested Thursday after he stole his car from a tow yard. Sheriff’s deputies say that Kenneth Stewart, 39, saw his Toyota parked at a tow yard in Joshua Tree, where it had been stored after being towed. Stewart contacted the employees of the tow yard, who told him it would cost $100 to get his car back. Stewart had another key to his vehicle, and allegedly took his car without paying the tow fee. Deputies went to Stewart’s home in the 62800 block of Aberdeen Drive about 4:30 p.m. Thursday and arrested Kenneth Stewart for investigation of grand theft auto. Kenneth Stewart was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $50,000.
