JOSHUA TREE MAN ARRESTED AFTER MAKING DEATH THREATS

A Joshua Tree man was arrested last night, accused of threatening to kill a man. According to a Sheriff’s report, Fred Johnson, 49, was arguing with another man in the 6100 block of Valley View Street in Joshua Tree about 9:30 p.m. The victim said the Johnson threatened to put a bullet in the victim’s wife’s head, and then used an unspecified weapon to hit the man several times, injuring him. During the fight, the victim managed to get the weapon and hit Johnson in the head, causing a skull fracture. Fred Johnson was arrested for investigation of assault with a deadly weapon and making criminal threats. He was later booked at the West Valley Detention Center with his bail set at $50,000.
