A Joshua Tree man who was arrested Friday for child abuse said he was just horsing around when he bit a young boy. According to the Sheriff’s report, Jacob Rushlow, 18, was babysitting the boy and four other children, last week in the 61200 block of Navajo in Joshua Tree, when he started horse playing and bit the boy on both his arms. On Friday, a teacher at Joshua Tree Elementary School noticed the bite marks, and bruises on his forearms and leg, and notified Child Protective Services, who called in the Sheriff’s Department. The bite marks, which had been healing for several days by the time authorities were called, were determined to be moderate to severe bites. The report states the child’s mother had not sought medical attention for the bites. After an investigation, Jacob Rushlow was arrested on suspicion of felony child abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $100,000.
