A Joshua Tree man was arrested Sunday, two days after he was accused of stealing his grandmother’s Ford Explorer. According to a Sheriff’s report, deputies were called to the Yucca Valley Chrysler dealership about 11 a.m. Friday by a woman who said that Anthony Benedetti, 30, had forcibly taken her keys from her and drove off in her 2015 Ford Explorer. The woman, who said she received a small cut on her hand during the altercation, said she was afraid Benedetti would hurt her if she tried to get the keys back. She also said she thought he was heading for Orange County. Deputies obtained an arrest warrant, and about 3 p.m. Sunday, Benedetti was located in Lake Elsinore. Anthony Benedetti was arrested for investigation of carjacking, booked into the Central Detention Center, with his bail set at $200,000.
