A Joshua Tree man is accused of stealing from his roommate to pay for drugs. On August 28 at about 8:30 a.m., deputies were called to the 7500 block of Elwood Street in Joshua Tree by a man who said that his roommate of about a week, Jared Abrams-Misbeek, 27, had stolen his tools and used his unemployment insurance bank card to purchase gas. The victim valued his tools at more than $1,000. The deputy’s report states that Abrams-Misbeek admitted under Miranda to stealing the tools and selling them in order to pay off a drug debt, and to buy more drugs. Jared Abrams-Misbeek was arrested on suspicion of grand theft and was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
