An argument over smoking resulted in the arrest of a Joshua Tree man for felony spouse abuse. According to a Sheriff’s report, Dana Roberts, 58, of the 65900 block of 29 Palms Highway, was arguing with his wife about 11 a.m. about her smoking. The woman told deputies that when she tried to light a cigarette, Roberts flicked the cigarette away, which made her mad, and she started slapping him and pushing him away. Roberts than allegedly went and got a cigarette and extinguished it on her arm. After an investigation, Dana Roberts was arrested for felony spouse abuse, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
