A Joshua Tree man was arrested Thursday, accused of hitting a pedestrian with his car and then leaving the scene. According to a Sheriff’s report, Clifford Donohoo, 89, of Joshua Tree, was walking in the crosswalk in the Walmart parking lot when he was hit by a car, driven by Tony Herrera, 56. The report states that after hitting Donohoo, Herrera parked his car and walked into the store. Walmart employees located Herrera inside the store—despite his attempts to conceal his identity by removing the hat and sweater he was wearing at the time of the collision—and escorted him to the deputies at the scene. Clifford Donohoo was taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for treatment of minor injuries to his legs, hip, and elbows. Tony Herrera was arrested for felony hit-and-run causing injury, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
