JOSHUA TREE MAN ACCUSED OF FIRING GUN IN RESIDENTIAL NEIGHBORHOOD

Sheriff’s Deputy Ricardo Rodriguez seized these weapons and ammunition clips from the home of Yuan Hernandez July 10, following a complaint of shots fired in 61700 block of Petunia Avenue in Joshua Tree.

A Joshua Tree man was arrested Tuesday after he fired his rifle into the air in a residential Joshua Tree neighborhood. Deputy Ricardo Rodriguez was called to the 61700 block of Petunia Avenue about 6:30 a.m. by residents who said that Yuan Hernandez, 27, was firing a rifle into the air. The deputy discovered that Hernandez was in possession of two AK-47 rifles, loaded high-capacity magazines, a 12-gauge shotgun, and a 9-mm semi-automatic handgun. When Rodriguez questioned Hernandez about shooting the rifle, Hernandez was unable to remember what he did due to his level of intoxication. Yuan Hernandez was arrested for investigation of negligent discharge of a firearm, booked into the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $50,000.
