Update: 12:30 p.m.

A Joshua Tree man pleaded guilty this morning to spousal abuse. According to Sheriff’s reports, paramedics were called to the 61500 block of Palm Vista in Joshua Tree about 10 p.m. December 18, for a three-week-old baby who was not breathing. The newborn baby was taken to a local hospital and later released to Child Protective Services, along with a 1-year-old child. Paramedics called in the Sheriff’s Department to investigate. During the investigation, deputies determined that the baby’s mother (not the baby) had been abused. On December 22, Justin Morrow, 21, of the same address in Joshua Tree, was arrested on suspicion of felony spouse abuse. Justin Morrow pleaded guilty this morning in Joshua Tree Superior Court to inflicting corporal injuries on a spouse or cohabitant. He was sentenced to six months in county jail, and is eligible for a weekend or work release program, and attend a year-long domestic batterer’s program.
