Locally grown food and helping local families: that’s the dual objective of the Joshua Tree Local Food Program. Reporter Dan Stork says that two organizations are jointly sponsoring a fundraiser for the program…
Transition Joshua Tree and the Community United Methodist Church of Joshua Tree want to provide organic food from local producers to needy families. To further that goal, they are putting on a potluck fundraiser from 4 to 8 p.m. on February 28 at the church. There will be live entertainment and music provided by Mojave Sky. The church is located at 6213 East Parkway, four blocks north of State Route 62 at Park Boulevard. The reasoning behind the program is “to create a virtuous cycle through the support of local, organic, sustainable food production, that provides a nutritious, fresh food alternative and supplement to existing food assistance programs.” Pledges and donations can be made through contacts given in this story at z1077fm.com.
