JOSHUA TREE LIBRARY SILENT AUCTION AND BOOK SALE

Some good, cheap reads are at hand. Reporter Dan Stork says the Joshua Tree Library Silent Auction is in progress, and the fall book sale is approaching rapidly…
The Friends of the Joshua Tree Library fall silent auction began Saturday, September 6, and will continue through October 4, which will be the first full day of the Friends of the Library fall book sale. The silent auction features interesting, out-of-print or unusual items for which patrons may place written bids. The book sale continues through Wednesday, October 8. Proceeds benefit the Friends of the Joshua Tree Library.
Some of the highlights of the fall auction include: a collection of 85 Arizona Highways magazines published from 1949 to 1969, “The Earth is My Mother,” and “Reading the Wild,” by Bev Doolittle, a coffee table book of sepia tone portraits from “North American Indian Life” by Edward S. Curtis, a first edition of “Marilyn,” by Norman Mailer, and more. The Friends of the Library are currently accepting donations of gently used books, paperbacks, DVDs, CDs and current magazines. They are not able to accept encyclopedia sets, magazines that are more than a year old, soiled or damaged items. Please call ahead if you have a large donation. For more information about the Friends of the Library spring silent auction and upcoming fall book sale, please call the Joshua Tree Library at 760-366-8615.
