Author Maxim Loskutoff, the newest Joshua Tree Highlands artist-in-residence, is a graduate of New York University and the recipient of numerous national and international writing awards. While in Joshua Tree, Loskutoff will be working on his novel, "Spirits," a parable for gun violence in America and a meditation on the cultural breaking-apart of the American West. Loskutoff said he hopes to give readers the experience of the West as a place on the edge both cultural and environmental change, but still with overwhelming natural beauty.
