Morongo Basin marks National Gay Pride Month today with the fifth annual Joshua Tree Gay Pride Festival at the Art Queen Complex in Joshua Tree. Billed as an art and music festival for the whole family, this year’s theme is “A Celebration of Progress” to acknowledge the growing understanding of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people around the world. The festival is from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m. and will feature local eateries, live entertainment, musicians, artists, vendors, games for the kids, and a beer garden for adults. Morongo Basin Cultural Arts Council is the sponsor for Joshua Tree Gay Pride Festival. The event is free, but a $5 donation is suggested. The Art Queen Complex is on the highway in Joshua Tree, just east of Park Boulevard.
