JOSHUA TREE FOOD PROGRAM CELEBRATES STONE FRUITS TODAY

The Joshua Tree food program celebrates stone fruits. Reporter Mike Lisitz has more…
“Stone Fruits” include peaches and plums, apricots, cherries, and nectarines. They’re fresh, plentiful and at their best during the warm summer months when they’re in season. Stone fruits contain compounds that may help prevent diabetes, heart disease and other maladies. This month, the Joshua Tree Local Food Program celebrates stone fruits. You’re invited this Sunday, August 28th from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. at the Joshua Tree Community United Methodist Church on East Parkway in Joshua Tree. Presented in collaboration with Transition Joshua Tree’s Local Food Program, you can join in and learn about healthy food, people and communities. This event includes food and garden demonstrations, and distribution. Bring your own plate and utensils as this is a no-waste event. Write [email protected] for more information.
