Last October, the Joshua Tree Certified Farmers’ Market—which had 36 vendors—was notified by the county that it had violated the terms of its permit which allowed a maximum of 12 vendors at its site in downtown Joshua Tree. After threatening to force owner Lori Herbel to immediately downsize to the 12 permitted vendors, the county relented and stayed the enforcement while Herbel submitted a new permit application. Managing editor Tami Roleff says the farmers’ market recently received its revised permit…
Lori Herbel, the owner of the Joshua Tree Certified Farmers’ Market, recently received approval from the county’s Land Use Services Department to expand the market from its original 12 vendors to 36. However, Herbel said that due to COVID-19 social distancing guidelines, she is allowing only 26 vendors at the farmers market at this time. The county’s revised approval for the expansion is effective as of Tuesday, July 14.
The market’s hours of operation are from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m.; vendors are allowed to arrive at 6 a.m. to set up and have until 2:30 p.m. to tear down.
In addition, the permit allows parking spaces in parking lots to the east and west of the farmers’ market.
