JOSHUA TREE ELEMENTARY PERFORMS “ANNIE JR” THIS FRIDAY EVENING

Joshua Tree Elementary School drama department presents “Annie Jr.” in one performance only this Friday, June 2 at 6:00 p.m. Based on the popular comic strip, “Annie” was the winner of seven Tony Awards including Best Musical, and is now adapted for young performers in “Annie Jr.” It includes such unforgettable songs as “It’s the Hard Knock Life,” “Easy Street,” “I Don’t Need Anything But You” and Annie’s eternal anthem of optimism, “Tomorrow.” In “Annie Jr.,” Little Orphan Annie charms everyone’s hearts despite a next-to-nothing start in 1930’s New York City. Determined to find her parents who abandoned her years ago on the doorstep of an orphanage, Annie escapes to the wondrous world of NYC and finds a new home and family in billionaire Oliver Warbucks, his secretary Grace Farrell, and a lovable mutt named Sandy. The 60-minute production includes students in grades kindergarten through sixth and will take place at Joshua Tree Elementary School, at 4950 Sunburst Avenue in Joshua Tree. Tickets are $3 general admission and can be purchased at the door. Doors open at 5:40 p.m. For more information, please contact Mrs. Hilderbrand at 760-366-8459.
