JOSHUA TREE CHICKENS SAVED IN COOP FIRE

Firefighters saved four chickens when their coop caught on fire Tuesday morning. Shortly before 9 a.m. Tuesday, firefighters were called to a home near Canterbury Street and Porter Boulevard in Joshua Tree for a chicken coop fire. A warming light inside the coop had fallen and started the straw inside the coop on fire. Embers blown by the strong winds threatened the desert, but Joshua Tree and Yucca Mesa firefighters were able to prevent the blaze from spreading and saved all the chickens who call the coop home.
