“Desperate Heart…” The millions of viewers watching coverage of the Olympics are hearing the unique sound of our own Joshua Tree. The very distinctive sound of local band Gram Rabbit is the soundtrack to Fruit of the Loom commercials running throughout the International event, and then beyond. Z107.7 News spoke with Gram Rabbit front lady Jesika VonRabbit, who said the whole process has been “pretty exciting.” VonRabbit said her representative had submitted the song “Desperate Heart” among others for consideration some months ago and it wasn’t until recently the band learned they had been chosen. She said it didn’t really sink in until they finally signed a formal contract for the rights to the music. While the Olympics commercials are their biggest exposure so far, VonRabbit said the band has been getting other major exposure. Three of their songs, “Dirty Horse,” “Devil’s Playground,” and “Desperate Heart” are all being used on the televison show “Hit and Miss” starring Chloe Sevigny as a transgender killer. The show first aired in England and has now come to the Audience Channel and airs Wednesday nights at 9 on Direct TV. Jesika VonRabbit said the national Fruit of the Loom Commercial will run all through the Olympics and then be used regularly after that. The band gets a royalty fee every time the commercial runs. With a delighted chuckle she said, “I hope they play the heck out of it, I want to get a new car.”
