JOSHUA TREE ART OBJECT USED FOR TARGET PRACTICE

Apparently not everyone in Joshua Tree is an art lover. A 5-foot-tall object, described as a “polished aluminum piece of art” made from a semi-trailer door welded together and cemented into the ground near some rocks in the 62900 block of Sullivan Road, ended up full of bullet holes sometime late Sunday or early Monday, sheriff’s deputies said. A nearby resident reported finding fired cartridge casings in a cabin on her property near a window with a good line of sight to the shiny piece of art. Damage was estimated at about $7,000. Anyone with information is asked to call the sheriff’s department at 760-366-4175.
