Joshua Springs Lightning football will travel to Lancaster Baptist High School on Saturday night in a bid to win their sixth CIF Championship in the last eight years.
Joshua Springs (11-1), ranked No. 1 in California 8-Man football, will take on the Eagles (7-5), ranked No. 7 in California, in a rematch from earlier this season. In the first contest, the game was a back and forth struggle in the first half, as both teams scored each time they had the ball, and the Eagles held a 24-18 lead at the half. The Lightning coaching staff made the correct adjustments, and the players executed them perfectly, shutting out the Eagles 22-0 in the third quarter for the 40-24 win.
This contest pits the best defense in 8-man football against the one of the most high-powered offenses. Joshua Springs has allowed an average of 8 points per game on the season, while Lancaster Baptist has averaged 84 points in their last two games. All that drama will build until 5 p.m. Saturday, when the Joshua Springs Lightning take the field against the Lancaster Baptist Eagles. The game will be broadcast online at Fox Sports West Prep Zone.
