In an historic first for Joshua Springs Christian High School, the Joshua Springs Lightning golf team finished its 2019 regular season as league champion Wednesday. In their final match of the year at their home course, Lightning golfers faced off against the visiting Mesa Grande Academy and they fired their best score of the year 279-315.

Leading the way with medalist honors for the day, team captain Josiah Fontillas led the field with 41; Devin Lander, 54; Eli Wahlberg, 58; Noah Dufour, 59; and Aaron Pringle, 67.

“The school has never before held a league championship in golf and the coaches are proud of what our players accomplished this year,” said head coach Joe Comparsi.

Assistant coach Scot McKone echoed the same sentiments, “For many years, the school did not have a golf team, and beginning only three years ago when golf was offered in their sports program, the team went from not a single win that first year to league champs this year.”

He added, “It’s been a wonderful journey to watch the kids work on their games this year and find the strokes needed to earn their first league title of league champions.”

The Lightning golf team finished the season with a record 5 wins and 1 loss in league play and 9 wins and 4 losses overall.

Congratulations to the Joshua Springs Lightning golf team.
