After postponing its decision last month about the electronic sign for Joshua Springs Calvary Church, the issue is back on tonight’s agenda for the Yucca Valley Planning Commission. Managing editor Tami Roleff explains why the church is asking the planning commission to put the issue on hold…
On May 8, the Yucca Valley Planning Commission was asked to consider a variance for Joshua Springs Calvary Chapel, which wanted to install a 28-square foot sign in front of the church when sign regulations only permitted a six-square-foot sign. Town staff recommended that the planning commission deny the variance. At tonight’s meeting, the applicant is asking the planning commission to put the variance on hold and that the town consider amending the town’s sign ordinance. Next up, the commission will hold a public hearing on an amendment to the ordinance on second dwelling units in residential districts. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6 p.m. in the Yucca Room of the Yucca Valley Community Center.
