At last night’s board meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the agenda items relevant to the hiring of new personnel and the purchase of three fleet vehicles were tabled. That action because director Mike Reynolds was away on personal business and it was felt that the full board should consider those items. The board did, however, authorize the contracting of an outside firm to inspect four separate reservoir floors and make repairs as necessary. Far from mundane, the routine inspections involve sending divers in sterilized wet suits into the enormous holding tanks. Why the special suits? Because it’s our drinking water that they’ll be diving in. And finally, in his report, General Manager Curt Sauer noted that the deadline for public comment on the Joshua Tree airport solar project Initial Study ends February 10; for details on how to comment, go to this story at Z1077FM.com and follow the link.
