At tonight’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District board of directors, the directors will meet in closed session to appoint interim general manager Mark Ban as the permanent general manager. During the open session, the board will be asked to approve Ban’s two-year contract. He will be paid $176,319 dollars per year with four weeks vacation per year. In addition, the water district will pay $1985 per month for his health insurance and a company car. If Ban is terminated by the board without cause, his severance pay will be four times his monthly salary. He will receive no severance pay if he resigns or is fired with cause. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. in district office on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
