Directors at the Joshua Basin Water District last night dealt with glamping, guarantee deposits, a shop remodel and budgetary protocol. Reporter Mike Lipsitz was there and files the following…
Directors at the water district replaced the current $200 guarantee deposit in place since 1997, with new, varying deposits tied to water rates.
Under the heading “shop remodel,” the report included a resolution authorizing the general manager to amend the budget to include actual remodel costs. That resolution was approved 4-1 with vice president and finance committee chair Bob Johnson opposed on procedural grounds. And finally, the general manager reported on four ostensibly half-baked development proposals, three of which would cater to the glamping market, none of which have petitioned for a will-serve letter:
- Colorful community of green zone multi-story residences;
- 48 glamping Airstream trailers on 15 acres off Sunburst just west of the MBTA;
- Out Sunfair is another proposed glamping proposal for 10 Connex boxes on a 2.15-acre parcel;
- East of Joshua Tree Lake RV park is a 40-acre property for 40 glamping yurts.
