At tonight’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the board has long been expected to name an interim general manager to fill the shoes of outgoing GM Curt Sauer. What no one expected is that tonight the board must also decide how to fill the shoes of long-time board member Mickey Luckman following her unexpected passing June 11. Here’s reporter Mike Lipsitz with more…
At tonight’s 6:30 p.m. meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the four sitting board members will discuss and likely decide whether the seat left by the death of Mickey Luckman will be filled by appointment or in a special election.
And in response to Curt Sauer’s impending retirement, the board is expected to move Assistant General Manager of Operations, Mark Ban, into the position of Interim General Manager. Also tonight, directors will set the appropriation limit for 2018-19, and adopt the Emergency Response and Local Hazard Mitigation plans. Those items and others will follow public comments. Committee, staff and director’s reports come later. Tonight’s meeting takes place at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
