JOSHUA BASIN WATER LEARNS THAT THE MORONGO BASIN PIPELINE IS SHUT DOWN

At last night’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District’s board, attendees learned that the Morongo Basin Pipeline has been shut down since May 29 following discovery of a leak just north of Linn Road in Landers. Mojave Water Agency Director Jim Ventura presented an award commending outgoing Joshua Basin Water District General Manager Curt Sauer for his service to the district.

While leak repair on the 25-year-old line is expected to delay delivery of recharge water to local agencies, Morongo Basin residents should not experience any changes at the tap.

Also at last night’s meeting, directors at the Joshua Basin Water District heard from Mojave Water Agency General Manager Tom McCarthy who emphasized with certainty that water agencies must adapt to climate change while managing the needs of community, economy and environment.”

In other business, the board received and adopted a fiscal 2019/2020 budget and approved a resolution calling for replacement of ball and check valves as water meters are replaced over the next five years.

And finally, Mojave Water Agency Director Jim Ventura presented an award commending outgoing Joshua Basin Water District General Manager Curt Sauer for his service to the district.
