JOSHUA BASIN WATER FACES NEXTERA SOLAR FIELD DECISION AGAIN TONIGHT

The Joshua Basin Water District canceled their meeting Tuesday night due to a lack of a quorum, but are meeting tonight in a special meeting. Assignment reporter Mike Lipsitz says the NextEra Solar project is back on the agenda…
At tonight’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, General Manager Curt Sauer will again ask the board to consider providing a Will Serve Letter and Water Supply Agreement to NextEra Solar for use at the proposed Joshua Tree airport solar project. The board has passed on executing such an agreement several times. But now that the County Planning Commission has given the project a green light, any further denials mean the district would be turning its back on a very profitable agreement. The utility giant will get its water either way even if it must exercise its right to dig its own high production well. The drama plays out tonight starting at the new 6:30 p.m. meeting time at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
