The Joshua Basin Water District Board will meet tonight in regular session. Reporter Mike Lipsitz says they have a hard decision to make regarding the controversial NextEra solar farm at the former Joshua Tree airport…
At tonight’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the board must decide if it will authorize the general manager to execute a will-serve letter and water supply agreement for the NextEra Solar project. Denial of a will-serve letter would be a costly move for the district because NextEra will exercise their right to dig their own well. Also tonight, the board will decide if the district will continue to fund an ongoing sturdy with the U.S. Geological Service for $63,000, and also the board is expected to adopt a resolution amending the rules and regulations for transitional and inactive meter charges. Those items and others will follow public comments. Committee, staff and director’s reports come later. It all starts at 7 p.m. at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
