The Joshua Tree Water Wise Demonstration Garden will soon have a new look, providing more information to garden visitors. At last Wednesday’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District the Board approved new interpretive signage designed to give visitors information they need to make water-smart choices before and after their own landscapes are installed. Deb Bollinger, Joshua Basin’s Conservation Specialist, based the interpretative program on similar programs at the National Park and Living Desert. The improvements were approved with Directors Reynolds and Wilson opposed. The Board also heard from Assistant General Manager Susan Greer that the District’s operational income and expenditures are on budget for this fiscal year at about $4.5 million. The Board also approved an agreement with Mojave Water Agency to receive grant funding for the ground water recharge project which will bring water to Joshua Tree. The $3 million grant will come from California Proposition 84 funds. Director Wilson dissented.
