Joshua Basin Water District board of directors will take another look at the NextEra solar project at the former Joshua Tree airport during the regular meeting tonight. Reporter Mike Lipsitz fills in the details…
At tonight’s meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, the board will again consider providing a Will Serve Letter and Water Supply Agreement to NextEra Solar for use at the newly approved Joshua Tree airport solar project. The board has passed on providing such an agreement multiple times; but yesterday’s decision by county supervisors to deny an appeal aimed at stopping the project leaves the water district little choice but to hold their collective nose and give the energy developer what it wants. That vote will follow a closed session meeting on potential litigation. Also tonight, the board is expected to set a voluntary conservation target. Tonight’s meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
