The Joshua Basin Water Board will consider a will-serve letter for a controversial commercial solar project tonight. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has more…
At tonight’s regular meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District, board directors will consider a commitment to provide service, known as a will-serve letter, to Next Era Energy. Next Era aims to convert the vacated Joshua Tree Airport into a large-scale solar power development. Consideration of such a will-serve letter is little more than a rubber stamp as it is the directive of the water agency to provide water service on request. Joshua Basin Water District and all state water agencies are prohibited from promoting or discouraging development by manipulating access to service. The public is welcome to weigh in on this and other items. It all starts at 7 p.m. tonight at the District office on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
