The Joshua Basin Water District Board meets in first a closed, then open session tonight. Reporter Mike Lipsitz takes a look at a busy agenda…
Following at 5 p.m. special meeting with labor negotiators, the Joshua Basin Water District will reconvene in open session at 6:30 p.m. consider a number of items. Near the top of the agenda is a public hearing on water availability, aka standby charges, for the coming fiscal year. The hearing takes place even though the proposed rates are unchanged from the present. Immediately following the close of that public hearing, the board will open or rather continue the public hearing tabled at the last meeting. The District will be looking for public comment on the Urban Water Management Plan. Assumptions are that a list of points raised the Transition Joshua Tree Water Group have been addressed in the newest draft. And among other business, the board will hear an update on the self-certification conservation targets due to the state Water Resources Control Board next week. Tonight’s meetings take place at district offices on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree.
