The Joshua Basin Water District handled a number of items of business at last night’s meeting. Reporter Mike Lipsitz was there…
Those attending last night’s regular meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District heard an update on the district’s Hazard Mitigation and Emergency Response Plan. The plan is several months away from completion. Next, the water district’s governing board approved two resolutions that are essentially Bureau of Reclamation prerequisites required to apply for water smart grants. The resolutions are for mainline and meter replacements. For the last 14 years, the district has operated under a two-year budget cycle, but last night the board voted to return to a one-year budget cycle. That action followed a finance committee recommendation and will ostensibly allow more efficient integration with district software. And finally, following input from a number of authorities, the board approved a proposed updated reserve fund policy.
