The Joshua Basin Water District board of directors last night awarded a contract for survey and design services for the first phase of the district’s capital improvement program. Reporter Mike Lipsitz has the rest of the story…
Big as the capital improvement program is, relatively few outside contracts are expected because the lion’s share of the work will be kept in house; that policy is expected to save the district tens of thousands of dollars. Speaking of saving money, the district’s low-income assistance program went into effect yesterday. The program offers a one-time $50 credit to qualifying ratepayers. The program is administered by United Way of the Desert. To apply, complete a short online application available at unitedwayofthedesert.org/online-application. Customers may also pick up an application in the lobby of the water district office on Chollita Road in Joshua Tree. Yesterday also marked new hours at the Water District office which are now Monday through Thursday from 7:30 a.m. to 4 p.m.
