At the regular monthly meeting of the Joshua Basin Water District last night, the board extended General Manager Curt Sauer’s employment contract six months until September 30 and added a 5 percent merit-based pay increase.
Turning to miscellaneous fees the board voted 3 to 1 to increase those fees with Director Mike Reynolds opposed, and Board President Bob Johnson absent. Next the board voted to outsource administration of standby charges—the expectation being that moving those charges to a vendor dedicated to such work would allow the district to realize some economies the move is expected to bring.
And turning to the three-year, million-dollar effort to bring the district’s workhorse, Well 14, back online—cash continues to pour in, but no water flows out, at least for now.
