As we continue making our way through 2021, the Joshua Basin Water District is reflecting on all that they accomplished in 2020. The District focused on improving efficiency while reducing overall payroll costs to allow more funding for annual capital and maintenance needs. Capital projects are currently underway addressing long term reliability while ensuring safe and sustainable drinking water for decades to come. Even in an uncertain year, the district installed over 25,000 feet of new mainlines just south of the highway along streets such as Saddleback, Juniper and Torres. This project included all new fire hydrants, valves and service lines ensuring that leaks in the area are old news along with increasing the quality of the water delivered. The entire project was funded by water rates using the District’s Capital Improvement and Replacement Program, or CIRP, that supplies jobs to local residents and has already saved the District over a million dollars in capital costs.
