Jonathan Rodriguez arrested for attempted murder after 12-hour Joshua Tree manhunt

A twelve-hour manhunt rattled residents of Joshua Tree’s Friendly Hills neighborhood this weekend, as deputies with both the San Bernardino and Riverside Sheriff’s Department searched for a suspect considered to be “armed and dangerous.”

The San Bernardino Sheriff’s Department reports that Jonathan Rodriguez, 20, led a pursuit over county lines into Joshua Tree early Saturday morning. He is alleged to have fled his car and fired a weapon at deputies at 3:30 a.m. No one was injured.

Access to roads was closed or limited throughout Saturday morning, and deputies urged residents to stay inside and lock their doors.

At around 2:30 p.m., deputies located Rodriguez in the 60000 block of Pueblo Trail.

Jonathan Rodriguez was arrested on suspicion of attempted murder and is being held without bail.
