JOHNSON VALLEY SHARED USE AREA CLOSED THROUGH NOVEMBER 9

The Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is now closed to the public while the Marine Corps conducts critical military training in the area. The area will be closed through November 9. The Marine Corps will clear the area for reopening after thorough inspection for any hazards. Once cleared, management of the land will return to the Bureau of Land Management for public recreation. Managing editor Tami Roleff has more information about OHV recreation area and future closures…

The adjacent Johnson Valley Off-Highway Vehicle (OHV) Recreation Area, managed by the BLM, remains open to the public for recreation and is unaffected by closures of the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area. Off-road enthusiasts may also enjoy the nearby Stoddard Valley OHV Area.

As a reminder, the Johnson Valley Shared Use Area is also scheduled for temporary closure for two periods in 2021: April 30 – May 10, and October15 – November 1.

The fall 2021 training dates listed below reflect a slight adjustment from prior notices and will occur two weeks earlier than originally planned.
