Two Johnson Valley residents were arrested in Johnson Valley Wednesday, after deputies performed a welfare check on a small child. About 1:25 p.m. Wednesday, deputies were sent to a home in the 5500 block of Satori Lane in Johnson Valley to check on a small child. Deputies saw Dillon Mathews, 21, fleeing from the location, but were able to take him into custody. During a check of the home, deputies found dog feces, urine, and shards of glass throughout the house. In addition, the house did not have running water and was filthy. The child’s mother, Natalie Halverson, 22, was arrested for investigation of child endangerment. Natalie Halverson was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with her bail set at $25,000.
During the investigation, deputies also identified property that had been reported stolen during a burglary. Dillon Mathews was arrested on suspicion of being in possession of stolen property and for violating the terms of his parole. Mathews was booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $25,000.
