Johnson Valley man convicted of attempted murder and arson has sentencing delayed

The Sentencing hearing for Joshua Adam Kaiser was given a new date after defense requested a continuance at Friday June 14th’s original sentencing hearing.

Adam Kaiser of Johnson Valley was found guilty of two accounts of attempted murder and two counts of arson causing great bodily injury, and one county of injuring a spouse / girlfriend.

The incident in question took place on June 19th 2023, when Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the Hi Desert Medical Center regarding two burn victims, identified as a 30 year-old male and 29 year-old female, both residents of Yucca Valley. Both victims have since been released from the hospital and continue to recover.  

Joshua Adam Kaiser was arrested in connection with trying to kill his former girlfriend and another man by burning them with a gasoline-fueled fire. 

Kaiser could face potential life sentences for the crimes. Judge Rasheed Alexander granted continuance after Public Defender Jason Whiteside and District Attorney Jason Gueltzow conferred privately in the judge’s chambers.

The new date for the hearing is scheduled for Friday, July 26th.
