JOHNSON VALLEY MAN ACCUSED OF ASSAULTING A WOMAN

A Johnson Valley man was arrested Saturday, accused of assaulting a woman. Just before noon on Saturday, a woman called to report that she and Ryan Packwood, 28, were arguing near Perriman Street and Highway 247 in Johnson Valley. She said the argument escalated and Packwood grabbed her and threw her to the ground, injuring her foot. Packwood had fled by the time deputies arrived, but they later found him in the 52700 block of Consolo Road in Johnson Valley. Ryan Packwood was arrested on suspicion of felony battery, taken to Hi-Desert Medical Center for a medical evaluation, then booked into the Morongo Basin Jail with his bail set at $100,000.
