Directors at the Joshua Basin Water District made the decision to dismiss General Manager Mark Ban during a closed session meeting Wednesday night (January 19). Reporter Mike Lipsitz has details…
A statement issued by the water district said that an internal investigation concluded that Ban had violated the terms of his employment agreement and that his dismissal from the water agency that serves Joshua Tree was effective immediately. The district’s director of administration, Sarah Johnson, told Z107.7 News that Ban had been out on paid leave since the last week in December. Sarah Johnson’s name appeared on the minutes of the district’s December 15 meeting under the title of “acting general manager.” Ban was sworn into the top position at the water district in February 2020. The decision to terminate his contract was unanimous. As with all personnel matters, no further comment is expected from the district.
