IT’S CYBER MONDAY; KEEP YOUR IDENTITY SAFE

The move from in-store shopping to online sales led to a record-breaking Black Friday weekend this year, resulting in $7.4 billion in online sales according to a recent survey from Adobe Analytics. With Cyber Monday today, online shoppers are prepared to spend even more. Reporter Andrew Dieleman has these tips on how shop smart this Cyber Monday while keeping your identity safe…

Keep these shopping tips in mind this Cyber Monday. Check the return policy for the store or seller you are using; check reviews for the item you want to purchase, see if others had good or bad things to say about it; and factor shipping and handling costs into your order, as these can raise the overall price of some online orders. Also, make sure you keep your identity protected when shopping. Shop only on reputable websites that accept secure payments such as PayPal; establish a secure password for your online shopping accounts, do not use the same password for all accounts; and if the deal looks too good to be true, it probably is.
