ITEMS OF SENTIMENTAL VALUE STOLEN IN YUCCA VALLEY BURGLARY

Sheriff’s deputies are asking for the public’s help in finding a necklace with great sentimental value that was stolen during a burglary in Yucca Valley. According to a Sheriff’s report, a resident in the 57900 block of Hidden Gold Drive came home about 2:15 p.m. last Friday and interrupted a burglary in progress. The suspect, later identified as Charles Roberts, 18, of Yucca Valley, left the home through the bedroom window and drove off in a black Acura. The victim determined that several pieces of jewelry were stolen, including a necklace with a pendant urn that contained the ashes of a child who had died. The urn is in the shape of a cross with the word “Faith” inscribed on one side. During the investigation, Deputy Shaunna Ables contacted Charles Roberts at Black Rock High School Tuesday morning and searched his vehicle. Some of the stolen items were found inside his car, but not the necklace. Deputies also searched Roberts’ home in the 58600 block of San Marino where they found a gun that had been reported stolen in a different burglary. While deputies were searching Roberts’ home, Martin Guzman, 20, of Yucca Valley arrived. During a search of Guzman’s vehicle, a loaded firearm was found. Charles Roberts was arrested for investigation of burglary and possession of stolen property, booked at the Morongo Basin Jail, with his bail set at $25,000. Martin Guzman was arrested on suspicion of carrying a loaded firearm, cited and released. Anyone who locates the missing necklace can turn it in to the Sheriff’s Department with no questions asked.
