Sheriff’s deputies have called Sunday’s house fire in Twentynine Palms arson. Deputies were initially called to the 73300 block of Desert Trail Drive at 6:36 p.m. Sunday for a disturbance. By the time deputies arrived shortly before 8 p.m., the home was fully involved in smoke and flames. Witnesses told deputies they heard screaming and yelling coming from the house prior to the fire. Firefighters rescued a 25-year-old woman who was unconscious in a bedroom. The woman suffered smoke inhalation and other, unspecified injuries. A young girl who was in the house was able to get out safely on her own. The Sheriff’s Bomb and Arson unit was called in to investigate; its report claims the injured woman was responsible for setting the fire. The report will be forwarded to the District Attorney’s office for review.
