A Yucca Valley man who called 911 asking for help early Thursday morning was arrested after he tried fighting with deputies and paramedics. According to a Sheriff’s report, Jerad Mayhood, 21, called 911 and said he needed help at about 1:30 a.m., but refused to say why he needed help, only answering that he would only speak with a deputy. The responding deputy determined that Mayhood was extremely drunk. Paramedics from Morongo Basin Ambulance were called and they loaded Mayhood into the ambulance to take him to Hi-Desert Medical Center. Along the way, Mayhood unbuckled his restraining belts, forcing the ambulance to stop to resecure them. Paramedics also said that Mayhood was extremely argumentative with them and attempted to hit one of them at the hospital. Deputies were called again, and Mayhood was arrested for violating the terms of his probation. When Mayhood and the deputy arrived at the parking lot for the Morongo Basin Jail, Mayhood kicked out the rear window of the patrol car and tried to escape from the parking lot. Mayhood was located hiding near another patrol car and transported to West Valley Detention Center where he was booked a warrant for burglary, and is being held without bail.
