For the Morongo Basin’s more than 100 homeless people, bathing, doing laundry, and receiving mail represent challenges for which there are no simple solutions. But the county’s Family Assistance Program has signed a five-year lease with the county to use the fire station at Panorama Heights in Joshua Tree for a day-use, drop-in facility for the area’s homeless.
The Family Assistance Program will hold a community meeting Tuesday, May 21, to hear comments, concerns, and answer questions about the new homeless facility. The meeting starts at 1 p.m. at the fire station, 6562 Sierra Avenue in Joshua Tree.
