INJURED HORSEBACK RIDER RESCUED FROM BLACK ROCK CANYON

Search and Rescue teams spent their Sunday in Black Rock Canyon after a horseback rider suffered severe trauma. According to a Sheriff’s press release, yesterday (January 23), just before 2 p.m., deputies responded to assist fire department personnel with an injured rider. The rider reportedly was injured when she fell off the horse and suffered severe lower back trauma. The horse ran off, leaving the injured rider. Fire personnel located the rider and requested the San Bernardino County Helicopter (Air Rescue 306). Air Rescue arrived and conducted a medical air hoist rescue of the injured rider. The rider was stabilized and flown to Desert Regional Hospital for medical treatment. The horse was located a short time later by nearby residents.
