INDIO MAN KILLED IN A 29 PALMS CRASH WITH A ROAD GRADER

A 20 year old man was killed in a crash in Twentynine Palms on Thursday morning. According to the Sheriff’s Department, at about 10:38 A.M., deputies from the Morongo Basin Station responded to Lear Avenue and Two-Mile Road for a report of a two-vehicle traffic collision. Responding deputies found a Subaru wagon traveling south on Lear Avenue had collided into the rear of a Caterpillar Road grader who was stopped in the southbound lane of Lear Avenue, waiting to make a left turn onto Two Mile Road.  

The driver of the Subaru, a 20-year old Indio man, was pronounced dead on the scene by medical personnel. The driver of the road grader did not sustain any injuries. The Morongo Basin Major Accident Investigation Team (M.A.I.T.) responded, and the investigation is ongoing. The victim’s identification is pending notification of family by the County Coroner’s Office.
